This vase marks my first exploration of glaze masking, pairing a dark clay body with a soft, light glaze. A structured lattice pattern reveals the raw clay beneath, creating a woven geometry that opens into petal-like forms near the rim. As a foundational piece, it introduces my interest in balancing control and material honesty, using pattern to highlight the natural clay. The contrast between exposed surface and glaze creates a quiet tension, establishing my focus on repetition, structure, and the relationship between surface and form.
